| Pennine are off to the Nationals - 04 March 2007 at 22:58 |
| Pennine Brass are celebrating after picking up a 2nd place at this years area contests. The band played off an unlucky number 1 draw but managed to impress the judges with their performance of Sinfonietta - The Wayfarer by one of the banding worlds most prolific composers Eric Ball. As well as the invitation to the National Championships held in Harrogate in September, the band have also gained a promotion to the Championship section in 2008. The contest also saw a welcome return to Mike Fox on Solo Euphonium who also picked up the Best Soloist award. Pennine Brass would like to thank: Leanne Porthouse for helping out on repiano cornet James Chisholm for his support even when he wasn't allowed to play...and the hip flask! John and Olwyn...for the number one draw! |
